MTZ Non-Auto ACB

Good afternoon,

I have a project in which i need to give metering/on/off/position information via the RS485 to a site BMS system. This i can achieve via an IFM on each MTZ ACB & NSX MCCB fitted with a Micrologic E trip unit.

However, the scheme requires non-auto (isolator) ACB's on bus section devices and incoming supplies on certain switchboards (They are supplied via a protected device). Is it possible to fit a ULP port to these non-auto devices and connect to an IFM to give on/off/position information of these devices like the protected ACB's? I'm aware that these devices will not have the capability to send electrical information as they are not fitted with trip units.

Best regards,

Peter Hall.

Good morning @Peter_Hall ,

Could you please confirm that the need concerns only MTZ?

Which informations you would like to get from your MTZ Switch-Disconnector through communication?

  • On-Off position (OFF)
  • SD
  • SDE
  • Chassis position,
  • Ready to close (PF)
  • Others ?

Best regards

Ludovic

Hi Peter,

MasterPact switches can be equipped of independent microswitches that come with the BCM ULP (breaker comm module), even if no trip unit is installed.

Normally with this BCM option + IFM it should solve your problem. Please advise if any further question.

Good afternoon Christian & Ludovic,

Thank you for your invaluable input into this. This is exactly what we are looking for and hoping. In effect, the non auto ACB is able to communicate device status via the ULP network with and IFM in place. Obviously the only information missing would be the information supplied via a trip unit as fitted to a protected device. This arrangement is really helping us when the specification. calls for status inputs to site BMS from devices and save us wiring in separate hard wired outputs from every device.

Best regards,

Peter Hall.
