Early detection of overheated cables? Check how PowerLogic HeatTag helps to make it...

Did you know that...

For more than 20% of fire incidents in facilities, the origin is in the electrical equipment.
Among the top causes?
Overheated cables & poor wire connections.

A reactive response to a fire, can potentially limit the damage and the cost consequences in a facility.
But is it indeed enough to be on the reactive side?!?!?

๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค” What if, we could monitor 24/7 the cables in electrical distribution switchboards and be alerted early enough, having the time to act, before smoke appears or an electrical fire starts?

The innovative #PowerLogicHeatTag sensor comes to meet the challenge, bringing the #ElectricalFirePrevention to the next level.

PowerLogic HeatTagPowerLogic HeatTag
The new smart sensor PowerLogic HeatTag by analyzing gasses and microparticles inside the switchboard, is able to detect in a very early stage overheated cables and alert the operator that he needs to take an action on time...and this is...prevention...fire prevention...Electrical Fire Prevention!

Join me, to find out more on how PowerLogic HeatTag wireless sensor can help to improve our safety, by watching the video and share with us your feedback ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hello @Panel_Rhone_Alp ,

PowerLogic HeatTag became recently commercial. Progressively within the coming months will become available in all EU countries. We would suggest you to get in contact with your country local Schneider Electric and check the status of offer availability.

Hello @Panel_Rhone_Alp ,

In case of shut down: at first HeatTag has no integrated memory, so no historical data are kept at the level of HeatTag device. Sensor mission is 24/7 real time monitoring and alert the user early enough that has detected overheated cable(s) inside electrical cabinet.

History is recorded at the level of relevant Gateway and Software depending on their capabilities. Concenring HeatTag in the case of shut down, what maybe could be considered as possible constraint, would be to have the sensor unpaired from the gateway, but it is not the case.

Once the HeatTag is paired with the gateway then unpairing cases (which means that pairing will need to be re-established) could be:

a) HeatTag device has been resetted to factory settings

b) Loss of communication between HeatTag and Gateway for more than 15min will require unpairing and pair again (loss of communication in terms of network, not power supply)

If the connection between HeatTag and Gateway is established once then remains when switching off and powering on again the device.

Related to UPS for HeatTag power supply: sensor monitoring has a meaning when there is power in the electrical cabinet/panel and potentially we might face cables overheating incident. If no power > no potential overheating > nothing for HeatTag to detect. Having said that, UPS is not required for power supply (it is not forbidden if already exists, but not required for sure).

What maybe would be interesting at this point to share with you is that during the first 30 minutes after switching on the HeatTag sensor, the device is in test mode, that is , the HeatTag sensor can trigger an overheating alert for test by using the HeatTag Tester or any other alert requested by Panel Server or gateway remotely. It takes another 8 hours for the HeatTag sensor to define its nominal environment (learning phase, however sensor able to give alert in the case of cable overheating incident) and to be fully operational. Each time the HeatTag sensor is powered on, 30 minutes and 8 hours sequences are repeated.

Feel free to find out more details in:

  • PowerLogic HeatTag Web Page
  • PowerLogic HeatTag Technical Datasheet
  • PowerLogic HeatTag User Guide
  • PowerLogic HeatTag Instruction Sheet

Hope I have managed to provide the required information (and hopefully not confuse you ๐Ÿ˜Š).

Let me know if it is ok for you or you would need some more clarifications.

Hello @Vassiliki_NOTI

Thank you for this very useful and interesting information.

I still have some questions : How is your new sensor linked with the existing software ?

As example : Is it integrated into your Ecostruxure Power Commission ? Or Power Monitoring Expert software ? etc..

Will the users need to buy a new module for these softwares ?

Thank you in advance.

Hello @Panel_Rhone_Alp ,

no worries at all ๐Ÿ˜Š

Concerning HeatTag and shut downs:

PowerLogic HeatTag is not battery dependent, actually requires single phase power supply (110 to 277VAC) and to be protected as device (like all control devices) by a 2A mcb curve C or fast acting fuse.

There is a tolerance ยฑ15% for voltage fluctuations and up to 20ms for spontaneous outages.

Hope it helps ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks Miss Noti.

Interesting answer. But not enough specific for me. Does it mean it requires a small UPS in the Power supply of the Heattag ?  In case of shunt down, it will lose all his data, configuration ?.

Hope my quesytion is clear.

Thanks
