Does Heattag make temperature measurement to avoid fires?

Hello,

I understood that Heattag product helps prevent fires in switchboards.

But does it measure temperature also within the panel to prevent overheating that could lead to fire?

Hello @Shawn_M,

Measuring with temperature is probably better found under ''Thermal monitoring''

The Heattag doesnt measure on temperature. It 'smells' the air it sucks in with its vent.
So basically the sensors react to air/gasses. It analyzes gas and particles in the air which do

occur when cables/wiring is overheating even before there is an actual fire.

A Heattag product with info can be found on:

SE Heattag - SMT10020

Hope this helps you out!

Greetings,

Kind regards,

Rick

Hello @Shawn_M & @RHH ,

I am afraid there is little bit confusion.

Actually HeatTag measures both ambient temperature and humidity inside switchboard.

As @RHH mentioned, yes the main mission is to be hour "digital nose" inside switchboard to smell for us 24/7 the gases and the microparticles that are produced during invisible transformation of cables overheated and thanks to the smart embedded algorithm to alert us far before any smoke appears or fire starts.

On top of this main sensor mission, HeatTag is measuring the ambient temperature and humidity inside switchboard, giving the trends throughout the time. Potentially, when we are at the Edge level, custom "alerts" can be set up at gateway level (PowerTag Link or Panel Server) for certrain levels of temperature or humidity and send notification through Modbus TCP/IP when this level(s) is reached. Notfication message is fully customized by the user according to his needs. These custom alerts are purely user led and is additional featre to the main mission of the sensor.

The only metric which is linked to sensor alerting system for overheated cables, is the air quality index which measures the health of the air inside the switchboard that is informative up to value 9. When value 10 is reached means that we get an alert for overheated cables.

Hope it helps 😉

Thanks for the full explanation!

Makes sence.
It does more then only ''sniff'' the air. But if you just have and use the Heattag, that is its main function.
You can however take more data gathering from the product as it measures more is what I am taking out of it.

Good to know!

Greetings,
