Multi-Axis System with Virtual Axis

Hello Everyone,

I'm new here and relatively new to Machine Expert and Motion Control. I have an application where I need to perform movements of an object using 2 servo drives. So I assume its a virtual axis configuration I need to do but there seems to be very little literature on how to do it.

Can anyone point me to an example of this on Machine Expert or a guide which explains how to do this? I am using a Pacdrive LMC Pro 2 motion controller

Hi Silverfang,
when you create a new project for PacDrive with Machine Expert, you can choose from different examples. The most common one is the "Template Full", which is already set up for use with 2 Lexium drives and a Power Supply.
If you're new to Machine Expert and don't have prior motion experience, I would recommend attending one of our courses. There are several aspects to consider when implementing a motion system. You can find our training at this address:

https://www.se.com/uk/en/work/services/training/courses.jsp?#TrainingCourses

or you can search for "training" in your regional Schneider Electric website (www.se.com).
Alternatively, there are videos on YouTube posted by some colleagues.

Regards

Hello Francesco,

Thanks for your response. Yes although I don't have a wide amount of experience with Machine Expert I have created many applications which successfully run the configuration you are referring to where the axis is a single real axis and a single servo takes care of the movement.

What I need help with is to use a virtual axis (similar to a crank motion where the linear movement creates a rotational path of motion). My actual application demands the system to follow a virtual path of motion by using a twin axis system created by 2 servo motors.

I would love to explore any examples for this (such as robotic arms etc) but I am unable to find resources for this.
