LOGGING DATA FROM M340 TO SQL SERVER USING OFS

Dear SE Community,

As mentioned in the title, my objective is to log data from the PLC Modicon M340 to SQL Database using OFS (OPC Factory server),

Is it possible?

How to do it?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Fatima95,

OFS (OPC Factory Server) is an OPC-Server, which does not act on itself. You need an OPC Client that reads data through the OPC-Server from the M340, and push the data to the SQL server. This OPC client can be software like a SCADA for example EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert,

Hello Mr. RoozeeR,

First of all, I want to thank you for your response.

I do use the OFS client to read data from the PLC (as mentioned in the picture below), what I ask for is how to log these data from the OPC client to a SQL database,

Hello Fatima,

The OFSClient (= OPC test client), can be used to read/write data from an OPC server (OFS), but has no functionality to push this data to an SQL database. You need an OPC client to READ OPC data and store this to a SQL database, by example EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert.

I got it,

I use Citect SCADA for supervision in this project,

Do you suggest any solution for my case, cause it's my first experience with OPC.

Many Thanks.

You can use Citect SCADA to retrieve the OPC data and send data to an SQL server.
