When importing a CAD file into Machine Expert Twin you ever were wondering about this window?
Let’s find out what is behind.
A CAD file usually contains many individual objects, each of which is represented by a 3D model, or mesh. When importing the CAD file there is the question: Do I want to keep these objects separated in my Machine Expert Twin project?
Let’s assume, I’m about to import a model of a static frame of a machine. It is comprised of the frame elements and all the bolts, nuts, and screws holding the elements in place. The frame is rather a graphical representation than something I intend to apply movements to.
I don’t need all the individual objects as entries in the Solution Explorer. So, I select “No”, to keep all the objects as only one comprehensive entry in the Solution Explorer, as a single mesh.
We have put together a video showing the CAD import as a SingleMesh with a Cobot. Watch the step-by-step guide and see how it relates.
