System function library for PLC and HMI

Hi all,

Does each PLC/HMI have specific documentation for the system library/command functions?

If so, where can I find the documents for each piece of hardware as it's not obvious from the website when I select the product. I managed to find the document for my M251 PLC but it certainly wasn't obvious.

For instance, I have a GTO HMI which I know for a fact has certain system commands and functions but can't seem to find any documentation for it but can for other HMIs like the STU/STO.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

The system functions of the dedicated device are normaly explained in the help of the dedicated programming system. For TM251 it is also explained in the available online help. Link

Here the link directly to the PLCSystem help

For HMISTO you will find the information in the Help of Operator Terminal Expert

Bastian_Schmitz_0-1713421361028.png

You will find the information under "Target Settings"

Hi @Bastian_Schmitz,

Many thanks for the information, much appreciated.

I'm still struggling to find the info for the GTO HMI (HMIGTO2310/2315). When I look in Help > User Manuals and select HMIGTO Series, it just gives hardware information, not library/function information. Are you able to point be to the specific location I can find this for my specific HMI?

The Target function on the HMI are mostly releated to the used Software. Did you use the GTO with EOTE or with Vijeo Designer?

OK in Vijeo Designer it looks a little bit complicated. But you can adjust the Target (HMI) Properties via Actions.

Everything what you see in the Action Tab looks for me like the dedicted target functions.

Hi @Bastian_Schmitz,

Yeah you can access certain functions and variables via Actions, but it's all the ones you can't see directly that need accessing via Scripts is what I'm really interested in.

For instance, take a look at the image below. I'm syncing the time from the PLC to the HMI. To do this you need to know the internal function and syntax. If I didn't know that already, how/where would I find that information?

Same for things like serial number and MAC address. I know these can be pulled from the HMI via Scripts but I don't know the function name or syntax structure which is where I need the documentation. They are just a couple of examples and I bet there's a significant amount more of accessible variables that are hidden.

Any more ideas where I might find this information?

So I found some additional functions in the 'Information' drop down action list as per the image below, but there's still functions like Serial Number, Watchdog status, RTC battery status etc which I need to know are available to read for my specific HMI as these don't appear to be accessible via Actions.

Below is another classic example of a script I've found on the HMI used to clear alarms, however I cannot find this in any information so how on earth would I know it exists? This also makes it clear there's other functions around this area that are clearly available, I just don't know what they are as they're not documented (as far as I can tell).
