Ecostruxure Control Expert V15.2 gives this error message on first startup after installation:
The service of the DTM catalog update failed.
Is there a hotfix or workaround for this?

Hello everyone,
DTMs are software that we have in our computers. Sometimes there are conflicts or incompatibilities between DTMs.
The control expert, in your case, updates the DTM catalog of your PC, since the Control Expert is an FDT Contaider.
Advice:
To check if the problem lies in the CE or incompatibility problem of DTMs. I would recommend that you open another FDT container, as the Somove or the Soft from M&M FDT CONTAINER. If they open and update the catalog without problems, the problem is with the CE. I would advise you to uninstall and install All CE.
In the case of having the same behavior,...... the problem is with some DTM that you have installed on your computer. I would recommend that you install M&M's "Free" FDTRegEDIT. With this software you can see the installed DTMs and you can disable them from the registry so that the CE, then CE can see it and update all the DTM except that. If you disable one by one you will see which one gives you the error.

Trying to get a copy of the M&M FDTRegEDIT that you refer to. Is the M&M Website the only source, and is it contained in one of their other products?

From what I've seen, this software is no longer available on the M&M website; I've only seen it on other download sites. You can try downloading it from there if you feel confident using those sites.
However, these problems when updating your PC's DTM catalog are usually due to an incompatibility in the installed DTMs or problems during instalation of someone DTM.
1- The first thing I would tell you is to contact Schneider Electric technical support in your country.
2- Try updating Control Expert HotFixes
3- If you installed other software before the error, uninstall it.
4- Uninstall Control Expert as indicated in the Readme file and install Control Expert 15.3 or 16.0.
If not, I'll tell you a couple of things.
In the path "C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\Control Expert XX.X\DTMCatalog" there is a file called DTMCatalog.xml. This file is the list of DTMs that Control Expert has updated.
Follow the steps below to see if we can locate the DTM responsible for the failure.
1. Make a copy of the file.
2. Open Excel.
3. File / Open DTMCatalog - Copy.xml.
4. Select the column "ns2:ProgID".
5. Copy / Paste this column into a new Excel sheet.
6. Apply the option: "Remove Duplicates" in the Data menu.
With these steps, you will obtain the DTMs that Control Expert has updated. If you compare the DTMs you have on your PC using the Control Panel \ Programs and Features, you will be able to determine which DTM is not loading in Control Expert and is causing your problems.
