Control Expert SD Card Writer and M580 CPU

Has anyone been able to write an M580 .stu file to a SD card using the SD Card Writer installed with the V16 Control Expert?

I can successfully read the header from the new Schneider SD card connected via a USB reader, the apx binary extracts from the .stu file and the SD card is recognised as the correct format (no red line).

But I cant get past the red box of "not M340"

Does this only work for an M340 or should it work for an M580?

cheers

For the Modicon M340 and M580 controllers, the SD cards have specific part numbers:

  1. M340: The SD card part number for the M340 is BMXRMS008MP.
    - This card is designed specifically for use with the M340 CPUs.

  2. M580: The SD card part number for the M580 is BMXRMS004GPF.
    - This card is formatted specifically for M580 CPUs and is used for application backup and data storage.

It's important to use the correct SD card for each controller to ensure compatibility and proper functionality. Formatting the Memory Card is Unnecessary. The SD memory card comes preformatted from the factory. You do not need to format it using your PC. However, if you attempt to format the card, you may alter the formatted structure, rendering it unusable.

I have the BMXRMS004GPF and its straight out of the sealed packet and I have not formatted it.

It gets recognised by the SD Card Writer software (red line disappears) but i still cant get past the not a M340 red box showing.

Are you able to write a M580 program using the SD Writer Software?

Ah, I've never used the "SD Card Writer" software. I guess this is only used for the M340 PLC. This red box is looking for an M340 SD card.
For M580, insert the SD card into the slot and manually use the menu command PLC > Project Backup... > Backup Save or Backup Restore the application .stu file.

Michael,

I'm assuming you mean the card slot on the M580 itself, if so does that mean it is then impossible to write a project to a M580 SD card without an M580 processor?

To the best of my knowledge, transferring a project onto an M580 SD card requires M580 CPU hardware. The M580 processor is required to load and configure the application onto the SD card. This process involves connecting to the M580 CPU, ensuring the project is built and running, and then using the CPU to write the project to the SD card.
