Hi,
We are trying to establish communication between Schneider HMISTO715 and TM221ME16R in both RS232 ,RS485 but we are not able to establish communication.
HMI not responding to the PLC.The pin configuration we have followed as per manuals.
Please guide us how we can establish RS232 or RS485 communication between the two.

Communication started when we triggered the 5V pin 4 from external power supply.
Now it's working fine even 5V is removed.
We now just terminated the 5V and common in two seperate terminals without any thing connected to it.
Yes we are using normal cat6 cable.

Hi,
For TM221 and HMISTO series, the easiest and recommended communication protocol is RS-485. The HMI cannot be configured in RS-232 ASCII mode. However, RS-232 communication is possible with some PLC models. If RS-232 is selected for the TM221ME16R model, it cannot be switched to RS-485 for communication with the HMI.
As a result, configuring both sides as RS-485 is the easiest way to establish communication. I recommend using the XBTZ9980 cable between the HMI and PLC. However, if it’s only for testing, connecting pins 4, 5, and 8 on both the HMI and PLC will be sufficient.
Best Regards,
