Introduction
This article is purposed to provide step-by-step exercise on how to modify the supervisory communication protocol of an existing EcoStruxure Process Expert project configuration from OPC DA to OPC UA. It is assumed that any other configurations including the network topology, nodes and targeted device are remain the same.
The OPC UA server used in this guideline isn’t the BMENUA0100 device (OPC UA Module) but the software version EcoStruxure OPC UA Server Expert.
Software Reference
The software used for this exercise is as follows:
- EcoStruxure Process Expert (EPE) R2 2020
- Group Control Library Demo database
- EcoStruxure OPC UA Server Expert v.2.0 SP1
- Citect SCADA 2018 R2
- PLC Simulator
