System Shutdown Log Messages

To determine how the server was shutdown, you can look for the following key entries in the log files:
[ICON] CSvrStatusIcon - Shutdown requested from menu

This indicates that the Shutdown Server option was selected from the server icon.
 [WEB] 1:00  Request{POST, /diag?Shutdown, HTTP/1.1}

This indicates that the shutdown request was sent from the web client diagnostics page.
[SVR] ... Connection 1 Confirmed (DARREN:ScxCmd)[SVRTHR] 2 AddClient from 127.0.0.1:2647, link is [SCX] 2:04[SCX] 2:04 SetClientDetails( IN: LoggedOn 1, User Eng )[SCX] 2:04 SetClientDetails( OUT: Hr 0 -> Ok. )[SCX] 2:04 ShutdownServer( IN: )

These lines indicate that a connection was made to the server using scxcmd and a STOP SERVER command was issued.
Summary State 3 (Main), Event 4 (Shutdown), Next Summary State 6 (Shutdown)

You will see this message after the above shutdown messages in the log file. If the service has been stopped (either through the service manager, or Services in control panel), this is the first indication that the server will shut down. There is no other indication of the shutdown when the service is terminated.

ClearSCADA 2007 R1

In ClearSCADA 2007 R1 and later, a shutdown from the server icon will now look similar to the scxcmd shutdown scenario as the server icon is now a separate client application. See below...
 [SCX] 2:04 ShutdownServer( IN: )

The previous connection lines would probably not be adjacent to the shutdown request as the server icon would have previously established the connection.

ClearSCADA 2009 R2

Logging of the shutdown process has been improved including clearer logging of the shutdown 'Reason'.

When shut down directly from the Services form under Administrative Tools the following is logged:
[SCM] STOP command from SCM[STATE] ***************************************************************[STATE] *[STATE] * Server shutdown request (Stop command from service control manager)[STATE] *[STATE] ***************************************************************[SCM] Starting SCM update thread...

The following indicates that the server icon '[DraftContent:SCXIcon] 1:01' was responsible for the shutdown:
[SCM] StopService( IN: Reason 'Client [SCXIcon] 1:01' )[SCM] STOP command from SCM[STATE] ***************************************************************[STATE] *[STATE] * Server shutdown request (Stop command from service control manager)[STATE] *[STATE] ***************************************************************[SCM] Starting SCM update thread...

The following indicates that the web client '[DraftContent:WEB] 1:01' was responsible for the shutdown:
[WEB] 1:01 Request {POST, /diag?Shutdown, HTTP/1.1}....[SCM] StopService( IN: Reason 'WebX client [WEB] 1:01 ' )[SCM] STOP command from SCM[STATE] ***************************************************************[STATE] *[STATE] * Server shutdown request (Stop command from service control manager)[STATE] *[STATE] ***************************************************************[SCM] Starting SCM update thread...
