📖HomeBack SCADAPack Modbus driver has been re-named to Advanced Modbus driver. This was to enable extension drivers to be written for Modbus based devices using the Advanced Modbus driver as the core. Although the re-name was not a technical requirement it avoids confusion when, for instance, a user wishes to install the Lufkin SAMS driver and it was located under the SCADAPack Modbus branch in the installer and in the object menu.
The main change is the name itself, this affects the installer and the object menu in ViewX. So rather than seeing SCADAPack Modbus the user will now see Advanced Modbus. The SCADAPack components and objects are now in an extension driver. This also enables a user to install just the Advanced Modbus driver if they are communicating with generic devices.
The objects themselves remain the same but are now shown in a slightly different structure in the object menu (show menu). Some new Generic Modbus points have been added and these are identical to the SCADAPack Modbus points but have the DLOG fields removed.
A new time point has also been added. This is for use with the Lufkin SAMS driver at the moment but will be used with future extension drivers and an interface to the Generic Modbus outstation will be added.
