ClearSCADA 2009 R1.4 Upgrade Strategy

This document outlines the recommended strategies for upgrading to ClearSCADA 2009 R1.4.
For details on version compatibility of clients and servers as well as server-server for redundancy, please refer to the ClearSCADA Version Compatibility Matrix (2005R0 - 2010R1).
To upgrade from a version older than ClearSCADA 2009 R1, please refer to the Upgrade Strategy for ClearSCADA 2009 R1 (using 2009 R1.4 instead of 2009 R1).

ClearSCADA 2009 R1/R1.1/R1.2/R1.3 Standalone Server
- Shut the server down.
- Upgrade the server to ClearSCADA 2009 R1.4.
- Restart the server.
ClearSCADA 2009 R1/R1.1/R1.2/R1.3 Main and Standby Servers
- Shut the standby server down.
- Upgrade the standby server to ClearSCADA 2009 R1.4.
- Restart the standby server.
- Wait for the server to fully synchronize with the main server and go into the standby state.
- Shut the main server down. The upgraded standby server will take over as the main server.
- Upgrade the previously main server to ClearSCADA 2009 R1.4.
- Restart the previously main server. The server will synchronize with the new main server and go into the standby state.
To take advantage of the numerous improvements in this version, it is strongly recommended that both the servers and clients be upgraded to ClearSCADA 2009 R1.4. See the Release Notes for more information.
