ClearSCADA 2005 Release 1 is a minor release of ClearSCADA 2005 that resolves issues and problems found with Release 0 and also includes minor additions.

New Features

  • The ClearSCADA Knowledge Base is now installed as part of the installation process to provide users with another source of information when building systems.

  • Allow configuration of Crystal reports to read data from multiple databases.  This can be used to summarize data from multiple ClearSCADA database systems.

  • Fallback functionality to allow manual control over whether a direct outstation will use direct or PSTN communications.

  • Allow import of emf files (Enhanced Metafile graphics format) so that vector based images can be imported into ViewX as native ClearSCADA objects (see Notes below).

  • Support for pasting vector (emf) images from clipboard where available rather than bitmap images.  This allows images to be brought in to ViewX from graphics packages in native ClearSCADA object format.

  • Improved speed of loading mimics where multiple levels of embedded mimics used.  This improves response times on slower speed links.

  • Improvements in the query processor to provide better performance while large queries are running.

  • Allow export of configuration to older versions (Note: this is used for downgrading configuration only, not for runtime databases). An additional field has been added to the Save As dialog for exporting allowing selection of the version.

  • Database save to disk will be retried if the files are locked by other processes.

  • DNP3 eNet Significant Change field has been split into a separate field downloaded to the outstation and one for ClearSCADA processing. This allows high accuracy events to be generated at the RTU for storage in history without forcing large numbers of client updates for minor changes.

  • Allow setting of user passwords with the Automation Interface.

  • Backspace now works in the Structured Text Editor when the Shift key is held down.

SCADAPack Modbus Driver Enhancements

  • Set default clock-set functionality to 'off' to avoid problems with RealFLO devices.

  • SCADAPack RTU times are no longer set on startup of ClearSCADA or restart of the driver.

  • Allowance to store both polled data values and DLOG data values in the historic database for the same point.

  • Support for reading from, and writing to, bits within input and holding registers.

  • Allow configurable packet size of data transmitted.  Can be used when communications media does not allow large packet transmission.

  • Outstation set will now dynamically allocate an address for itself.

  • Added support for double precision floating point numbers in generic Modbus outstation.

  • Added support for controls successfully completing if the outstation returns an acknowledge exception response.

  • Added new translator switch /EXTENDED for translating driver logs using extended device addressing.

Improved online help

  • Added new client-side scripting reference.

  • Created new Alarm Redirection Guide (rearrangement and update of content).

  • Created new Guide to Security (rearrangement and update of content).

  • Replaced System Admin guide with updated Guide to Server Administration.

  • Added manuals for DF1 driver, Mitsubishi driver, Mitsubishi Slave Driver.

  • Modified Help layout to provide smaller chapters for easier viewing and searching.

Problems Resolved

  • Fixed a problem introduced in Internet Explorer by Microsoft security patch MS06-013.  With this update, customers could only interact with ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer after the control was manually activated by clicking the interface or by using the TAB key and ENTER key. This meant that every time a user navigated to a new page in the web client, they would need to re-activate the ActiveX control. The behavior of the ClearSCADA web client has been modified to remove this limitation in Internet Explorer.

  • Prevented the ICMP buffer from overflowing and causing a server exception when large ICMP packets were received by the server.

  • Allow a latched button to be configured with no action on either the up or down action.

  • Modified handling of object menus such that if only one option is available, it will be run directly rather than displaying the option and asking users to click again on that option.

  • When log files settings on the server are modified to reduce the number of log files, old logs will now be purged to free up space on the disk.

  • The Event Journal "Message" field and point "Source" fields will be returned as a 254-character string through ODBC in order to stop the dropping of characters by Crystal Reports.

  • Fixed Random Generator driver crash when a Random Generator object had scan rate configured as 0.

  • Fixed alarm redirection processing such that email redirections, replied to from clients other than Outlook Express, will now correctly acknowledge the alarm in ClearSCADA.

  • Fixed ViewX crash that could occur when adding Favorites with no windows open.

  • Fixed Favorites in WebX client.

  • Fixed ViewX crash that could occur if trying to print an empty alarm list.

  • If a user selects multiple alarms from the alarm banner and acknowledges them, a dialog was displayed for each alarm where they did not have acknowledge alarms permissions on that object.  This has been corrected so that only one message is displayed.

  • Processed Historic View queries were incorrectly accepting the start and end time in local time. These queries now operate completely in UTC.

  • Prevent PDS Symax driver from logging the same event multiple times.

  • Logic programs configured for "Input Change Detection" no longer incorrectly execute when a variable defined as an output is modified.

  • Locate in Navigator incorrectly displayed the Database Bar when the user had no permission to display it.  Option is now hidden from object menus when user has no permission to view Database Bar in their user profile.

  • Under some conditions, two copies of each object were being shown in the Database Bar. This has been fixed.

  • Fixed problem where two "Licence Details" dialogs could be opened, but only one closed.

  • Fixed processing of quality on over-range values for Internal Analog Points.

  • Fixed problem where server would not start when Server Status OPC tags were used on mimics.

  • If a template instance contains a second 'nested' template instance, and the template to which the second instance refers is changed, the objects within this second instance are now correctly updated to match the template.

  • Corrected ViewX crash that could occur when a large embedded mimic, exceeding the size of the ViewX embedded mimic cache, was used.

  • Accumulators in continuous mode did not correctly operate with daylight savings changes.  This has been corrected.

  • Fixed a bug in the query processor where a NOT is ignored for event journal queries on Source columns of the form NOT LIKE %Something%.

  • Fixed ViewX crash that could occur when writing to a registry value from client-side script.

  • Changed the data type for the OPC Server Status flag TotalHisBytes to allow for historic databases larger than 2GB in size.

  • Fixed ViewX crash that could occur when debugging a logic program and viewing program variables.

  • Corrected display problems in WebX client when configured animations no longer exist (such as in custom animated symbols).

  • Fixed problems with indication of data quality on points from servers that are unavailable.

  • Reject peer-peer op codes of (0x90, 0x92, 0x20, 0x1E) in Symax driver to avoid processing messages not intended for the server.

  • Modified the server configuration User Contact Details form so that it now validates field names.  This solves a problem where entering "@" or "." characters in the database field names could cause the server to not start.

  • Ensured that the logic function MAKE_TIME_OF_DAY, when used in function block diagrams, has labels describing the inputs to the block.

  • Fixed a ViewX crash that could occur if a script form contained a group box as the first control and the space bar was pressed.

  • Network connections opened during a re-establishment of communications are now correctly closed if the attempt fails. Previously, when the re-establishment failed, communications would not then be established again since the driver was attempting to use a closed port.

  • Changed the way that network connected outstations communicated so that messages for different outstations were not incorrectly transmitted in a single packet.

  • Fixed crash that could occur when deleting a template that has an instance in another template, where the template id of the instance of the first template in an instance of the second template is overridden.

  • Ensured that data grids could not be configured with a table name that clashed with an existing database table or a historic view.

  • Fixed the trend y-axis 'Range' mode for current traces in the web client so that the state descriptions are now correctly spaced and no longer overlap.

  • Fixed a potential query processor crash that could occur on very large systems where multiple concurrent queries were run.

Improvements to DNP3 driver

  • Corrected errors with poll counters on PSTN connections.

  • The Ethernet Keep Online message is now initiated if the functionality is turned on once the RTU is already online.

  • Class poll statistics no longer shows number of successes greater than number of attempts.

  • Improvements to handling of Future Data.

  • Fixed restore outputs functionality to handle long transmission times.

  • SCADAPack E Series significant change settings are calculated based on zero and full scale settings rather than out of range values.

  • Fixed driver crash that occurred when Network mode was used on the channel but network settings were not configured on the outstation object.

  • As per the DNP3 driver standard, controls are no longer retried.

  • If a DNP3 response is received with the incorrect application sequence number, ClearSCADA will now wait for the full application layer timeout before retrying on the application layer to allow the RTU to send any backlog of message responses.

  • Fixed problem where valid link layer retries would be rejected.

  • Corrected driver so that application layer confirm requirement from an RTU after a Delay Measurement is handled correctly.

  • When tune limits is used on a DNP3 eNET outstation, only the limits are now downloaded to the RTU.  Previously downloading limits would trigger a full configuration download.  This has been modified so that tune limits only performs incremental downloads.

  • Enabling "Respond to Need Time IIN" on a DNP3 outstation now correctly responds to time requests from outstations without requiring the outstation object to be taken out of service, or the driver to be restarted.

Improvements to SCADAPack Modbus Driver

  • Fixed driver crash that could occur when changing configuration settings of an active Generic Modbus Outstation.

  • Corrected handling of address 255 in standard addressing mode.

  • Corrected driver translator to show correct addresses for input and holding registers.

  • Promoted polling has been fixed such that promotion is correctly turned off when no longer required.

  • Prevented crash that may have occurred when changes were made to point configurations, the DLOG Only option was selected and the point was taken out of service.

  • Corrected form processing so that the Address, Retrieval Interval and Scan Group fields will only grey out when the DLOG ID is not set to None and the DLOG Only option is selected.

  • Time sync messages can now correctly be either broadcasted or sent individually.

  • Fixed driver to correctly handle Modbus response code 05.

  • Fixed server exception that occurred when trying to save DLOG configuration.

  • Corrected DLOG processing so that it starts as soon as required.

  • Fixed a problem where the swap registers option on a Generic outstation could incorrectly cause the registers of SCADAPack outstations to be swapped when the outstations shared the same channel.

Notes

Importing of emf vector images allows scalable graphics to be imported directly into ClearSCADA.  Once imported, these objects can be split into component objects and modified in the same way as any other object drawn in ViewX.

emf vector images do not support gradient fills. Any imported object that contains components that use shading or gradient fills will have that component imported as a bitmap. In this case, the component should be redrawn in ClearSCADA to take advantage of the scalability and reduced size of the vector based images.
