com'x 210 data logger SD card slot

Hello all,

According to this link, one of the differences between Com'x 210 and Com'x 510 is:

Com'x 510 has a logging memory on board = 4GB  While Com'x 210 has only 256 MB Which makes the Com'x 510 is the most suitable for logging data up to 2 years.

When I connect to my Com'x 210 web server I get 10.3 Mbytes of available space on the status banner.

My question is: why is there an SD card slot on the Com'x 210 then?

Do I have to imply that this feature was dropped on purpose to force your clients to choose the superior and more expensive 510?

What is the added value of this product if I have to include a real data logger to my setup? I'd rather integrate a Modbus library with a real COTS datalogger for 1/10 of the cost.

I can, of course, be missing something...

Thank you for your comments.

Regards,

Marcos

Hello @Romain_Polette and thank you again.

I see what you mean. That was my point, the SD card has not been enabled in the firmware to have a feature that adds value only on the more expensive product.

Maybe I'm naive but that seems to me like a not very client-friendly design.

Regarding the available space you might be right after all, it seems that what I got is a DEV unit.

But to be honest, 10 MB vs. 50 MB makes no difference to me, I'd still have to add a real data logger.

I think I will play a bit with my unit and then throw it in the garbage where it belongs.

I wish you guys will grow a conscience at some point and change your ways. Not everything in life is about money. You take from the community and this is what you give back: smoke and mirrors.

Regards,

Hello @marcosg ,

Com'X is now replaced by the EcoStruxure Panel Server. Please consider the Panel Server for any new design.

Purpose of the Com'X210 is to log and publish data on the Schneider Electric Cloud Services (Resource Advisor, Asset Advisor, Facility Expert) or on FTP Server. Com'X210 buffer is limited and data not published are overwritten. SD card slot will not work for Com'X210, this is related to the HW design between 210 and 510 models. Com'X210 does not allow to view historical data on its Web interface. Because you have 10,7 MB remaining on your Com'X210 -> you must have a "*Almost Full" warning on the top banner.

Com'X510 has a 2 years buffer thanks to its SD card system. This Energy Server has also a Web interface allowing to view the real time and historical data (dashboards, trends). Dashboards allow the final user to view and compare its energy consumption along weeks/months/years. Com'X510 can also publish data on Schneider's Cloud Services.

Both Com'X integrate many Schneider Electric devices. You can integrate non Schneider devices by creating your own models thanks to the 3rd party devices Modbus maps. If you Com'X is connected to a Schneider Cloud Service, you can access to devices alarming (you can create your own event based alarms).

This could be the added values compared to 3rd party data loggers.

You can compare Com'X main features here:

Hello @Romain_Polette and thank you very much for your answer.

With regards to your statement:

SD card slot will not work for Com'X210, this is related to the HW design between 210 and 510 models.

Can you confim that? I mean, is that something you have seen on the schematics of the board? the SD slot is attached to the board but there are no traces running to and from it?

Not that I don't believe you but since this data no-logger has no use for my purposes I think I'll open it up and see with my own eyes.

Let's make a deal: if I upload a picture where you can see traces on the PCB running to the SD card holder, you will give me some hints on how to enable it?

What do you say?

And with regards to the "almost full" warning, I'm afraid you are mistaken. The +10 Mb is the available space I have right after a factory reset, so I'm guessing the rest of the 256 Mb are used up by the firmware itself.

Regards,

Marcos

Hi @marcosg ,

Please check page 3 of the Com'X210/510 Install Sheet. This is mentioned that the SD card is only delivered with Com'X510. This SD card is specific and you cannot use any ext3 formatted SD card.

SD card slot is is available on Com'X210 but not functional. If you put a Com'X510 SD card (or 3rd party SD card) into a Com'X210 this will not work. I cannot confirm the behavior (failure ?) but this is definitively not integrated in the Com'X210 FW. Com'X210 uses its internal memory for data logging. There is no way to enable SD card feature on Com'X210.

" The +10 Mb is the available space I have right after a factory reset."

=> after a factory reset you must have more than 10 MB remaining space on your Com'X210 (52 MB).

=> what is you Com'X210 FW version ?

=> total memory is 256MB, mostly used by the OS and FW.

=> below some pictures with different available storage on Com'X210:
