Is it possible to transfer device configuration for native SE meters from one EGX300 to another?

We have a project where we have 220 x EGX300 with same device configuration and logging. We are able to import-export custom device configuration, however it would  be very convenient in terms of labour and time if standard device configuration was copiable.

Hastak,

Take a look at this "how to" and let me know if you have better luck.

Hello Hastak,

This can be done...here's how:

1.  Both EGX's need to be on the same Firmware.  Strongly suggested that you also have the same Disk Update version on each.
2.  With an Administrator account, FTP into the (Primary) EGX300 and copy the file named egx300cfg.txt from the root.  I suggest that you save this to your PC keeping the same name.
3.  (Best Practice) - This step is not mandatory; however, I would propose that you make a backup copy of the (Secondary) EGX file named egx300cfg.txt for your safe keeping.  This will be overwritten once you make the copy.

4.  With an Administrator account, FTP the file named egx300cfg.txt from your PC, to the (Secondary) EGX300 root directory.

5.  This will cause your EGX300 to reboot.

What is replicated?

The register list in the EGX300...
The top banner text and color of the EGX300.
The Device List...already configured like the Primary.
The same User accounts

Let me know if you have any troubles.

Thanks!

Hi James,

I have followed above steps but wasn't successful. The configuration did not copy over.

I have tried now on two different EGX300s. And the original file I took was from Solutions Lab in India (10.155.26.150)

Do I have to delete the egx300cfg.txt file from NEW EGX300 before I copy the Primary one, or is it fine to overwrite?

Thanks for your assistance.

Kind Regards,

Hastak Shah

Hastak,

I'll put together a document that shows how to do this more clearly.  In the short term, yes...you will need to overwrite the file.

Hello James,

That document says "what is copied ?" and ends with "etc"  may be the question should be "What is NOT copied ?"

May be IP address is not copied, but what about Device Logging, FTP Export configuration, Time&Date configuration ?

Thank you.
