We have recently released a Com'X 510 Quick Start Guide. This guide provides an overview of the commissioning process for a new Com'X 510.

Hi James,
I have just come across this guide after having ongoing frustrations with the amount of time it takes for basic configuration tasks for the Com'X 510. I feel that the time estimates in the referenced documentation are way off. I don't know if this is the best place for me to raise these sorts of issues but we have been burning a lot of time commissioning these devices.
Sorry for the rant but these devices are causing us delays in what should be a straight forward process.
Best Regards,
Todd

Hi Todd,
Sorry to hear that the commissioning process is causing you delays. The Com'X510 does currently have a long boot time, so hopefully we can help you find a commissioning process that involves the fewest possible reboots. There is not currently a default way to set what topics you want logged per device type. Are you commissioning many Com'X510's in similar setups? If so, it may speed things up to use the "Backup for Duplication" feature, which you could then drop onto the other ComX510's to duplicate the configuration you've created. This would preserve all of your selected logging topics.
We've identified several pain points in our boot process and web performance, and we're actively working to improve these to speed up the ComX.
Best Regards,
Colton Peltier

Thank you for your response Colton. We have lately been trying to use the "Backup for Duplication" feature where we can to help speed up commissioning where we have had a similar setup previously. We have also learnt to avoid where possible tasks that require a reboot. If there was some way of editing the default logging topics for a device type by editing a config file or something on the Com'X 510 file system, this would go a long way to reducing time spent.
Best Regards,
Todd

Is my unit broken or an i missing something ? Is it because i have configured meters/gateways on it that it can't see, have i missed a setting ?
If the boot time truly is >10 mins then that is quite frankly totally unacceptable, almost laughable.
Out of the box boot time seems to be around 5 mins, configure the unit with devices, change the IP and the reboot is taking an eternity, its just sits at the browser stating "Welcome to Com'X 510 The box is starting, please wait" refreshing every now and again, i have been sitting in front of it for around 12 minutes now........
