EGX 300 strange things!

Hi all,

I use EGX300 as a local logger for several meters. The reason why we using it as logger is that sometimes the communication between this local point and the SPM server fails. These meters are not Schneider devices, so I have to use device type generator to represent them into the EGX300. I am not at site, so when I start working with EGX300 over ethernet, it comes a moment when the custom device type page of EGX disappears. The strange fact is that all the other pages are available, but only this page goes blank. And of course I don't have the possibility to restart the EGX300, because I am not at site. So I use ftp client to send update 4.36 in order to restart the EGX. When restarted this page becomes available. But  unfortunately, this does not last long enough. After 20-30 minutes work everything repeats.

I have this situation on several sites. All the EGX300 are delivered with version 4.20. Some EGX's are updated, the rest are not. But no matter what is the version of the EGX, it happens always.

Thanks for the feedback Viktor...I have not heard of this happening.  Let me send this over to our Engineers to see if they can reproduce and find out what's happening.

Hi Viktor,

Could you please take a screen cap of the statistics page before you begin editing/creating a custom device type.  Then, once this situation occurs, would you please take another screen cap of the statistics page?

Thank you,

Randi

Let me know if there's a particular way you'd like this set up.

I've been trying to repeat it here, with no success.  But, if you can try to repeat it too, that would be good.  Thanks

Hi Randi,

I've just done it. I made screenshots before and after.  Take a look here:

before and after.odt - Box

I wonder may be all this occurs because I use firefox!!! But when I try to use IE it is getting worse. I have only this:

IE 9.odt - Box

All the menu buttons are inactive! So It is impossible to work with.

Hi Viktor,

Did you try using IE in compatibility mode? We have found some browsers do very strange things in the EGX interface.

Hi Alister,

I have IE 9 and Firefox v23.0.1. I think I do not need compatibility mode if I use IE9. But  yes, I try IE9 in normal and compatibility mode and

IE9 doesn't work fine. The menu of EGX is inactive. So I use Firefox instead and it is OK.

Maybe I didn't get something, but as far as I knew, this was done by design. The custom device type generator was always supposed to be hidden and you can access it by going to the following URL: http://<Your EGX IP>/device_type_gen_enable.shtml

Click enable. Then the menu item will become available again for the time of the session.

Hope this helps!
