attaching more than 1 racks ATS to a rack PDU

Recently I attached 14 server with a single power supply to 2 rack ATSes (AP4423) as each one can connect only 8 servers

If I configure the power dependency, I can only configure 1 of the 2 ATSes in the Power dependencies on the 4423.

Configuring the second ATS will display the message "Rack PDU is already supplying rack ATS".

In order to get the power distribution correct, I connect one ATS to FEED A to as primary Connection and the other with FEED B as primary Connection. Then the single powered servers starts to complain that I there is no distributed redundancy because there no Secondary Connection..

How can we attach 2 rack ATSes on the same Rack PDU pair (FEED A and FEED B) in the same rack.

Hi Onno,

It is by design only one rack ATS can be connected to a pair of rack pdu's in a rack. It is mainly because of the predicted power and power sold estimated load strategies - they treat primary and secondary rack pdu's as if they were paired. One rack pdu cannot be paired multiple times.

Suggested workaround: Model one ATS with the combined sum of the outlets of all the other ATSs. Connect this ATS to the rack PDUs and the server equipment to the ATS.
Add the other ATSs as "dummy" ATSs, that is without connecting any equipment to them. This way the inventory reports will be valid.

Kind regards

This is exactly my point.

By using 2 ATS devices, one using feed A and the other FEED B you can distribute the power over the 2 rack PDUs in a redudant situation. The load on the Rack PDUs  is determinated by the power that  is connected to the ATS not how many ATS there are connected. In the end you can not put not put more power in a Rack that a single RackPDU can handle.

By limiting the all the ATS connections to only 1 ATS per RackPDU the power reservation is uneqal in a redunatant situation,

The Limitation of 1 ATS the RackPDU pair seems to be strange  and serves no purpus.

Greetings,

Onno.
