Schneider Galaxy UPS not fully compatible with Schneider´s DCIM
Hi,
We are solely using APC/Schneider products for the physical infratstructure in our datacenter. UPS´s, InRow coolers, racks, rack PDU´s etc, along with APC/Schneider complete DCIM- Data Center Expert DCE & EcoStruxure IT Advisor ITA.
A while ago we installed 2 new Galaxy VS 60kW and of course they should be connected and monitored by DCIM, as all other infra in our Data Center.
Imagine my surprise when noticed that it was not possible to log in to the new Galaxy UPS´s directly from DCIM/DCE GUI...
My first thought was that this must be something missed or maybe a not yet released function in the Galaxy NIC SW.
However, now I got confirmed from Schneider FSE that this function, directly accessing the Galaxy UPS´s NIC through DCE, not will be developed and released. Incredibly...
How is this decision possible when DCE & ITA are fundamental products in Schneider´s physical infrastructure products portfolio??
Summarized: Galaxy is a pure Schneider product but obviously not fully compatible with Schneider´s DCIM. Is it possible to get a comment on this from product management?
Product management and engineering managers are aware of this issue. There are two products currently that use this version of the network management card that are different than the standard APC NMCs that Data Center Expert current integrates with. They are aware of the need for a similar level of functionality with these NMCs and it is in a back-log to get fully resolved within a future release.
