Phase load on 60A PDU
Recently we start to use APDU9967, this is 3phase 60A PDU unit. There is one thing that is really confusing me (I am not qualified electrician). Max phase load for this 3ph 60A PDU unit is only 16A per phase, but needs to be bellow 12A. Somehow I expected that max load per phase should be 48A, as stated on APC site (Maximum Line Current: 48A) https://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/products/APC-Rack-PDU-9000-Switched-ZeroU-17-3kW-208V-42-C13-C15-6-C1....
On internet I found 3-phase capacity planning worksheet and per calculation on this sheet those phase values are much higher than 16A, when banks are loaded. Also I was on chat with APC support I they told me that those phase value are just fine, but I am not convinced yet 🙂. Additionally we had overload warnings during relatively low load.
This is only 4.7kW on device that can handle 17kW! What will happened when we push load up to 6-7A per bank, on all 6 banks?
Can somebody calculate load per phase if load for every bank is 6A?
Can anyone give more explanation? Do you folks think that this is OK and I do not need to be worried?
