NetBotz 250: Secure Erasure

Hello,

I would like to know if there was a secure erasure present on the NetBotz 250. I have not found it yet in the documentation available.

A secure erasure would be an erasure when we know that a threat cannot reconstitute the previous data present on the NetBotz 250, if it comes close to it, after its purge or zeroisation.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Raphaël

Hi @Anonymous user

Are you referring to resetting the appliance to factory defaults?

Hi @JLehr,

The secure erasure, I am talking about, is a function/feature which ensures that when a data is removed from the non-volatile memory (NVM), it is impossible for a potential threat to retrieve and/or reconstruct the data which was previously present within the memory.

For instance, if I had a password present in a file in NVM and I decided to securely remove it, it will be impossible for an attacker to retrieve the data and know the password which was present in the removed file.

If you knew a command/functionality of the NetBotz 250 which allows such a type of erasure, this would be great 🙂

Maybe this function is present within the reset to factory parameters. This, I do not know.

If you had any piece of information, I would be happy if you could share it with me

Best Regards,

Raphaël

Hi Raphaël,

Here's the security handbook for the NetBotz 250. If you don't find what you're looking for, I'd suggest contacting support.

Thank you for your help.

I looked at the document you have provided me. Sadly, there is no precise indication stating that it is not possible to retrieve/reconstruct the formatted NetBotz after using the format command.

I will consider reaching out the support.
If I have any data, I will add it to this feed.

if in the meantime you had some more information, I will be happy to read them.

Best Regards,

Raphaël

Hello @Anonymous user ,

Currently we do not have any secure erase functionality that you are talking about or any procedure documented for it. This is something that we can look at adding to the Backlog for 250 development, but right now we don't have it.

If you have any other questions or concerns please let me know.

Thanks,

Rick
