Managing door sensors/alerts for Netbotz 250 device via SNMPv3

We are running DCE 7.8.1 and have a couple hundred NB 250 devices installed.

I do not know if they all have door sensors connected to them, nor do I know if they are consistently plugged into the same physical ports.

I want to disable all door sensor related alerts or the sensors themselves en-masse (we don't use them at all).

If I discover the devices in the APC SNMP Configuration menu, I see the environmental sensors but no door sensors. Why is this? Do I need to use a newer version of DCE or maybe a different DDF?

IS there a better way for me to do this?

Hello @4jp,

Unfortunately I am unable to see your uploaded image, but below is some details around alerting for this.

Alerts within Data Center Expert and from the NetBotz itself for the dry contacts should fall into the "state" sensors category if Universal Sensor ports are being used:

This category of alerts also is comprised of other types of "state" sensors: fluid detector, dry contact, smoke, etc.  Due to other types of sensors being in this category, you likely can't just disable the alerts on the DCE side.

From my experience in topics around this, you would need to go into the NetBotz appliances web interfaces and disable "alarm generation" for the specific sensors or disconnect the sensors and then clear the lost communication of the sensor if you do not want the alerts occurring.

I can not see a way to be able to mass configure the alerts through DCE or using the NMC mass config utility unless you know which ports the sensors are in that you want to enable alarm generation for and which ports you want to disable alarm generation.

If you know which ports to enable and disable alarm generation for, then you can use APC SNMP Device Configuration option within DCE to do the mass config:

Unfortunately it sounds like your best option is to log into each unit and check for the sensors or physically remove the sensors from the appliances that you don't need them in and then clear the unplugged sensors alarm from the devices web interface.

I may have a very janky solution to this, and it involves editing the alert/event actions for each event in the environmental details tab. However I don't know how to interpret these values under the SNMP configuration section.

For example  NB: High Temperature Threshold Violation.[0x2E08] (Warning) has a value of ES,E[:::],T[:::::] in the SNMP config window. Is there a breakdown anywhere of how to manually edit these values or an explaination of what they mean?

You do not have to log into each device and make this change. You can create a template in DCE from a single device after that change has been made and then configure the rest off of that change.

Event config syntax can be found in the following FAQ: https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156188/
