Hi team,
One of our customer, having two DCE Servers with standby configuration (Primary server- DCE Basic AP9465, Secondary Server - DCE Standard AP9470).
Both the DCE servers are configured with Same IP Address with Same Device configuration. (Primary Server Backup is restored on Secondary Server) Once the Primary server failed, the customer need to switch on the Secondary Server Power for continious monitoring.
During the testing, The Primary Server switched Off and Secondary Server made as Live and working Fine. But in DCO, after connected the Secondary Server, the Device and Sensor associations are not working and showing as unassociate. The Devices are automatically unassociated. (Discover like new DCE server)
The screen shot attached for your kind reference.
DCE Servers Version 7.7.1
DCO Server Version 8.3.2
Please advice to sort out this issue.
Thanks & Regards,
K.Venkat.

Hi Venkat,
I have not been able to test that scenario successfully, where the different hosts (DCEs) could have or forced to have the same MAC address. What I recall from my tests (some time ago) is that part of the MAC address could be forced to be similar but not all, and the two DCE severs would have different IDs in DCO/ITA (as integrated external servers).
Kind regards,
Jef

Hi Venket,
This is an expected behavior, even though apparently your DCE servers are similar (having same IP address and discovered devices), but they are not identical, they may have a different MAC address and different ID. And therefore they would be treated as two different servers (from DCO point of view).
I understand that it could be scenarios where you may need to replace the integrated DCE (due to hardware problems, etc), then I think the CSP team (Customer Specific Projects) could be an option to turn to.
Kind regards,
Jef

Thanks Jef.
Suppose the customer is having the two DCE Servers in VM Environment with Same MAC Address. Second DCE server as standby mode. In this case, Second server Switch over period, the DCO device association can works continuously.
Please advice.
Thanks & Regards,
K.Venkat.
