DCE discovery process stuck, cannot remove or add device
Hi Team,
A client of ours had a UPS NMC pop and have now replaced the NMC with a new one. They have given the new NMC the same IP address as the old NMC and were hoping to get the DCE monitoring restored.
They proceeded to do a rediscovery of the new NMC and due to the old device with the same IP still being in monitoring they could not discover the device. However, we could see an new entry in monitoring with the same IP address.
This discovery did not complete and the delete device button is disabled/greyed out.
We have tried to delete the original device but the discover is still hanging. We have tried re-running the discovery with no luck. Even rebooting the server and clearing the C:\>Users\Username\.isxc did not assist.
We have now also tried to change the IP on the NMC to bring it into monitoring while we resolve the stuck device but not able to discover it on a different IP. All other settings have been checked and confirmed.
The client is running DCE 7.8.1 on a physical Enterprise Server.
I know it has been some time since the post, but wanted to get an response out there in case any others run into a similar issue.
If the UPS model was the same, including UPS firmware version, and NMC firmware version, no action should have been required in DCE for the community to reestablish. You would just need to have ensured that the SNMP settings on the device matched what the old device had.
If you experience an issue with a "stuck" discovery or unable to delete a device, please reach out to technical support for assistance.
