Cat6 Compatibility with APC Ethernet Switches - AP9224110, AP9224111, AP9224112
While the User Manual for APC Ethernet Switches - AP9224110, AP9224111, AP9224112 only supports up to Cat5 cabling, do the switches also support Cat6 cabling as well?- considering Cat6 as a tech is backward compatible.
If yes, has it been tested ? Any past project documentation in this regards would help.

Hello AniruDdha
I believe the APC Ethernet switches was developed before Cat6 became a widely used standard, as such it makes sense that only Cat5 is mentioned in the documentation.
That being said, the differences between Cat5 and Cat6 is mainly in the amount of data that can be transmitted in the cable and the distance the signal can be carried. It is not a matter of combability with the units they are used to connect, but merely what performance the cable is able to deliver.
In this case there should be no issues, but it will probably be the switch that will be the limiting factor in regards to the bandwidth that will be available.
Best regards
Tonny

Thank you very much, Tony!
So what I understand is:
1. Cat6 Vs Cat5/5e doesn't really make a difference from connectivity perspective, as Cat6 is backward compatible with the old Cat5 supported network gear.
2. Providing Cat6 doesn't really offer any benefit as the APC switch (PN#AP9224110) will be the ultimate bottleneck for being able to support only upto 100mbps, thereby not being able to leverage the advanced network capabilities, offered by Cat6.
I hope this concludes!
Thanks Again!
Cheers!
