APC EcoStruxure IT Data Center Expert - Physical or Virtual device?

For those that have experience with APC's StruxureWare/EcoStruxure IT Data Center Expert appliances, are you using a physical appliance or a virtual one? We need to replace our old physical appliance as it's over a decade old and no longer upgradable, but am wondering which way to go. I suppose the physical one is better if you are having serious data center issues and have to shut down your VMware environment. Thoughts?

I like virtual version....since is more versatile regarding backup/restore/snapshots and is not affected by hardware failures(I do not see any failure on hardware version....except hdd..but...you never know)
