I am using Struxureware DCE 7.8.1
I am attempting to create a generic alarm threshold.
This Threshold alarm's purpose is to ensure that any fault that is not a loss of communication will get trigged/ send a short email.
When going through Device alarms for UPS I see "General Fault"
I am unable to find any context to what this Device Alarm entails. Is this device alarm for any issue, or just one that does not fit any of the additional device alarms present in DCE?
If at all possible I would like to find one alarm that could do this instead of utilizing multiple alarms.
Or is there a way to create a notification policy based off the device, and ignore the Communication Loss alarm - as some of our devices will say that communication was lost for 5 minutes but we already get notified that a site was down, would like to prevent 3 emails for the same exact cause when we already are aware of the issue at hand.

Hi @scoop263 ,
The general fault is indeed a UPS error not covered by another specific device alarm. If you've got a device associated with a specific alarm policy, then you should receive all of the alarms as their levels are configured.
If you create a threshold on an alarm that is already set to send, you will indeed get multiple alarms.
As for threshold alarms, there is really no option that can provide you with a catch-all for UPS alarms. You'd have to set them up individually.
Please also note that any device alarms for an APC device set up with priority scanning should be seen in DCE almost immediately. Device alarms are defined by the device and the device will message DCE when any of them occur. DCE will then poll the device again to verify. If you set up a threshold, you may not see that alarm until the next time the device is scanned.
Thanks,
Steve
