Hello ,
We have an installation with supervisory PCs in electrical boxes that are switched off by the operators. The operators are not authorised to open the electrical boxes.
Is it possible to start the PCs remotely from the PLC ? PCs are compatible Wake-on-lan.
On this installation we have an M580 PLC. Can we send a packet wake-on-lan from the M580 PLC with a button ?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards.

WoL-enabled computers await a “magic packet” that includes the network card’s MAC address. The typical UDP ports used for WoL magic packets are 7 and 9, this magic packet contains a specific pattern: six bytes of 0xff, followed by the target machine’s MAC address repeated 16 times. We can use NETIO block to send data via UPD, we can try this method

Hi Jmartin,
Just want to be clear here - what type of M580 are you referring to? FYI there are two different types and the answer will very likely vary depending on the type. This forum is for questions relating to the 61499 based M580 dPAC (programmed with Automation Expert).
For the IEC 61131 processor models:
For the IEC 61499 processor models:
Please note that if you contact your local support, the process is the same regardless of model of course 🙂
