Hello everyone,
I am currently working with an EcoStruxure Automation Expert, and I would like to connect my application to a Microsoft SQL Server database over TCP/IP (port 1433).
My goal is to either:
Read production recipes and parameters from SQL Server, or
Write a log and process data from EAE into SQL Server for reporting.
I tried creating a function in EAE and writing some C# code using System.Data.SqlClient, but it seems that standard functions (FCT) in EAE only support Structured Text and do not allow direct use of C# or external .NET assemblies.
From the documentation, I understand that Service Function Blocks are implemented in C and already provided in libraries, and that in version 24.1, FM_DLL and BM_DLL are no longer available.
Could someone please advise:
What is the recommended method to connect EcoStruxure Automation Expert with SQL Server?
Do I need to use an external gateway (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT, or a custom C# service) or is there an official way to implement a Service Function Block for SQL connectivity?
Has anyone successfully implemented such integration and can share best practices?
Thank you very much for your guidance.
