What is the New Asset Advisor Data API and How Do I Use It?

The Asset Advisor for Electrical Distribution (AA ED) Data API is a new functionality which enables our digital service customers to consume platform insights in a customized way.

Bringing AA ED Value Direct to our Customers

Until now, our customers were required to log into the AA ED platform separately, either via mobile app or web portal, to review dashboards, receive relevant tickets or review critical asset status on the main indexes. The new AA ED Data API gives customers the ability to retrieve relevant information from the AA ED platform for use in their own operational systems and consolidate it into their central repositories for configuration in their preferred command control center. In other words, the API brings AA ED insights to our customers… not the other way around.

Benefits of the AA ED Data API

The main benefit of the AA ED Data API is an improved customer experience and journey. By allowing our asset management insights to be brought closer to customer monitoring processes and systems, we offer them a way to consolidate their operational technologies and therefore, experience. Further defining key components impacted by the AA ED Data API, we see benefits across:

• Insights – AA ED platform insights (events and recommendations) can be integrated into customer monitoring and maintenance processes.
• Dashboards – Customers can customize an operational dashboard by merging their command control center systems (e.g., SCADA system CMMS, ERP, IWMS, etc.) with AA ED platform indexes and key metrics based upon equipment assessment.
• Support – Customers can continue to benefit from access to the complete functionality of AA ED and CSH (Connected Service Hub, or service bureau) support to get more details and advice from our experts.

AA ED Data API Features

This AA ED Data API avails open access to aggregated information computed in the AA ED platform, including a full view of customer sites and assets. By developing a connector to our API, we allow our customers to receive and retrieve information like:

1. Health Indexes – Status of connected assets and live notifications about any change occurring on the asset’s indexes.
2. Notifications or Tickets – Triggered by abnormal operating parameter behavior, alarms or recommendations provided by CSH experts, tickets are received in two modes:
   • Retrieved – Timely retrieval of AA ED tickets to monitor how they evolve in status or severity
   • Pushed – Subscribe to the most relevant events to get immediate online notifications pushed by the platform as changes occur

How to Connect to the AA ED Data API

The API is offered as an add-on to the AA ED service. If interested, contact the customer site assigned CSH agent or appropriate Schneider Electric sales team. Proceed with the following steps to connect to the AA ED Data API now:

1. You will first need to register to the Schneider Electric Developer Portal. Once registered, your CSH agent or sales representative will link the AA ED Data API subscription to your account. 2. Once your AA ED Data API subscription is ready, you will need to sign into the Schneider Electric Developer Portal to generate an API access token (refer to the PDF guide attached to this Community post to learn more) which connects your application to the API. You will be able to create as many access tokens as required in case there is more than one application, or you would like to assign specific access to developers in your organization.
3. The final step before beginning to use the AA ED Data API is to navigate through the different API operations to understand how they work and how best to leverage for your customer needs.
