FIPS mode was introduced in DCE 8.2.0. FIPS mode requires that certificates must include the Subject Alternative Name with the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) and IP address of the monitored device or connected server.
IMPORTANT: Do not reboot the server during the update.
The Data Center Expert update performs a data migration that takes under an hour for most systems. The data migration can take up to four hours if the system has thousands of devices and years of history.
Select the Apply Server Update option to import a server update package list file from your local machine, and install the server update.
Before beginning this procedure, download the appropriate update file.
Note: To update DCE 8.2.0 to 8.3.0, you must first download and install the required certificate available from the 8.3.0 link on the EcoStruxure IT Entitlements portal.
Click Import and navigate tothe downloaded file. DCE 7.9.3 and older: The file name is *.lst file. Click Open to list the available updates in the display. DCE 8.0 and newer: The file name is upgrade.zip. DCE 8.0 and newer only accept the zipped upgrade file. DCE 8.3: Download and install the required certificate. The certificate is available to download from the 8.3.0 upgrade link in the EcoStruxure IT Entitlements portal.
Log in to your Data Center Expert 8.2.0 server with full server access.
Select System > Server Administration Settings > Server SSL Certificates. Click Add to install the certificate.
Highlight the desired update and click Install Update. A dialog opens that states "Installing this update will cause the server to reboot. Would you like to continue?"
Click Yes to confirm your selection and begin the update process.
When the update is complete, users attempting to log in will receive a message stating that the client and server are different versions. A link will be provided to download the updated client from the server. Click the link to display the download page for the updated client.
Download and install the new client and log in to the updated server.
