I was running the Sw4048 without any errors but working on charger operation. The unit had valid AC input but inverter was in pass through mode (no battery current). I tried disabling the inverter and this shut down the inverter and it starts to reboot normally with the green light on for just a few seconds. Then it goes off. When I check the inverter status remotely (InsightLocal), it says the inverter is "Standby Fashion" with a device state of "Safe Mode" and inverter "Disabled". I see no way to enable the inverter. The normal inverter enable does nothing and I can not go into the inverter configuration to change any settings. Is there any solution or is the inverter destroyed? Don

Forgot to add device state modbus values:
Device State can report one of the following values:
0=Hibernate
1=Power Save
2=Safe Mode
3=Operating
4=Diagnostic Mode
5=Remote Power Off
255=Data Not Available

I was looking in InsightLocal and don't see this wording anywhere, particularly "device state". Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?
The current Modbus map of inverter state does not contain "Standby Fashion". Are you running the latest version of firmware on your inverter and InsightHome?

I had to keep trying various approaches as we use 2 systems in our ministry and this one runs the office and short term areas. So there was an urgency. I do not remember which screen showed the "standby fashion". But the SW4048 is working fine now without any errors. This unit is relatively new just put on line in the last 6 months and I am still getting used to it's setup (much different than the Outback).
What led me to go with the Schneider system was the ability to be partially grid synced (no selling power). The desired mode is to be synced with the commercial 50Hz power all the time but consume almost none except in a couple unusual situations. But I can not get this to work without a unacceptable cost (up to 2 amps on AC in at $.50 per KWH. However this would be another post thread. My current thinking is to put the AC In on an external timer that just runs occasionally but that will not help if the inverter gets overloaded. Thanks for all your efforts on my original question.

I was speaking with an intelligent L3 tech this morning about this.
There is clearly the lack of ability to understand the totally logical desire to charge batteries from solar (NOT the grid) and to use power from the batteries BEFORE the grid. These products were clearly designed by people who have never used a solar/inverter/battery/grid system. The controls and timer start/stop idiocy are incredibly unusable for basic situations of most real world use cases.
I think you are referring to "peak load shaving". This is a mechanism to use the grid first and batteries when some load threshold is reached. EVERYBODY with sufficient battery wants to use their batteries first (THIS IS A BASIC CONCEPT!) and augment loads with the grid when necessary and available.
