I've owned a BE425M APC UPS for two years. Today it started emitting a continuous high pitched tone with a solid red light. I unplugged it from the wall outlet for a few minutes and plugged it back in. Now it seems to be working properly. What was that about? Does it possibly need a new battery?
Thanks

I had some of the smaller units do this. Typically when you get a surge the UPS tries to kick over to battery. But when the battery is failing or bad it freaks out and emits a continuous high pitched squeal. I had one in my home do this repeatedly until I changed the batteries
