Trends in the Automation Industry?
What emerging trends do you see in the industry that you work in?
I work in across a handful of varied industries, and focus more on the information/SCADA piece, but I see an increasing need for data transformation for field information (primarily for cloud injestion) and automation of that technology. We constantly struggle with new technology since it seems to change so fast, which increases the overall cost of implementation and ownership/sustainability. I'm hoping to see a some of the orchestration and containerization tech start applying more to what we do in the near future and make everyone more efficient in what they do.

Hey there berlin433. From our perspective, we definitely are seeing a push towards unlinking hardware and software in Automation systems. This provides end users with the capability and freedom to focus on the software layer and worry less about hardware limitations. This can also drive a programming standard throughout all Automation systems so that we can all learn one way of programming and implement in any application and system. Much discussion about this at www.universalautomation.com.
