M580 with Latest AVEVA Plant SCADA 2020R2

There are two ways to communicate between M580 and AVRAV Plant SCADA over Modbus TCP/IP.  What is the suggested/recommended protocol to use for an around 25K tags AVEVA Plant SCADA with M580 PLCs, MODNET or OFSOPC??

I notice there are some issues on OFS with the older versions not not sure any issue or limitation with the current version 3.62 now before my mass deployment. Thanks in advance for your comments and feedback.

Well.. In my view if you looking for cross platform and you are planning to move from old hardware to newer hardware versions of controller and devices (IOT compatible) with cybersecurity and its always advisable to use OPC UA/OPC UA Embedded (NUA) over OPC DA as it brings in the Cybersecurity aspect into consideration and also cross platform support as the later OPC DA only supports the Windows OS and not much of security to say be it 25K/50K tags.

Secondly, regarding some issues you are facing I'm not very clear on the exact problem you are facing with OFS. You should upgrade the OFS versions compatible with your SCADA.

I would suggest using OFSOPC for projects with a large amount of tags. The latest OFS versions no longer have the problems you are referring to. MODBUS (MODNET driver) is neither user friendly nor fast enough for large projects.

I have a project with 200k tags in 12 PLCs running via a single OFS server without problems.

The OPC/UA drivers in PlantSCADA are fairly new, so I have no information yet about performance or reliability. I would avoid them for now.
