Surge protection and UPS
Hi,
I'm planning on purchasing APC SMT750i UPS. My PC and monitor will be connected to this UPS. UPS will be connected to a extension cord / power strip together with a lamp, laptop charger (low power) and printer. That extension cord will be plugged into the wall socket. I read that I shouldn't use surge protector after the UPS. That part I understand. But I would like to protect those other things from power surges also.
Is it ok if I buy APC PM1W-GR SurgeArrest and plug that extension cord into SA and SA into a wall socket?
My other question. I didn't understand perfectly how that SurgeArrest works. It says energy rating is 918J. Does that mean that it will handle every surge up to 918J (with no damage to it or the equipment behind it) and if the surge is grater than that it will burnout and cut the connection to the power grid?
