SmartConnect access is not enabled on your Smart-UPS

I'm trying to set up control of the outlets on my APC SmartUPS C-1000. In the smartconnect.apc.com portal, it says "SmartConnect access is not enabled on your Smart-UPS" with a link to further documentation. I've reviewed the document and see this prerequisite:

  • SmartConnect set to 'Enable - With Ctrl'. This can be manually enabled via the UPS device’s LCD screen. For more information, consult your UPS manual in the Documents section of the UPS Status page.

but I do not see this on my UPS's LCD. When navigating through the menu it toggles through voltage settings and what not but no configuration options. Youtube and google havent been a help so far. Can you please instruct further?

I believe the instructions are outlined in page 13 of the user manual which I have appended here:

https://download.schneider-electric.com/doc/SPD_AHUG-9ZSBHT_EN/SU_UM_990-5444E_MN01_EN.pdf

Once enabled you will be able to use the Smart Connect Portal to control the system.

Thanks. That worked without issue. My next issue is how to configure the plugs on how to group them.

How can I create outlet groups? It doesnt appear to allow that. It makes me keep all at as one group.

You have at least two problems to identify which are which APC Smart Connect plan you have.

Only the Advanced Smart Connect plan allows outlet control. Next, does your specific model UPS actually have outlet groups which can be configured and controlled. ☝️

You have several ways to determine this either confirming physically on the back, LCD Menu, APC Power Chute software.

If you see the option to control / manage and define an output group than it’s available. It may not be available via Smart Connect if you don’t have the appropriate subscription. 🤦‍♂️👎

Let me know what you find! 👍
