We just installed some AR3140 and AR3350 racks in a new company data center - actually had APC come out and set them up since it's a new building and we don't have personnel onsite yet. For some reason, they installed them as closely as possible (side by side in rows of 6 racks per row) - using the little tiedown bars they connected them using the two closest holes, thus we can't figure out how to get the doors off very easily, especially the rear doors. But they have to come off somehow - the APC installers couldn't have tied the racks together with the doors on - once they tied them together they had to put the doors back on.
All the front doors open Left-Right, so we can remove the Front doors by removing the first one to the left and going right one cabinet at a time all the way across from there. But it's kinda dumb that you can't get the front door off rack 6 without removing the doors from 1-5 first. But the back doors being split (obviously) totally screws that option as you can only remove one single door on either end of the row... the doors inward from the row are all locked in. We can get them to 90-degrees open, and can raise them up off the hinge but that's about it.
I'd say just raising the feet and shimming each rack over to adjust to the better spacing would be easy, but APC also installed ladder rack between the rows and we've had cable installed using the ladders already. It's still an option as l don't think it will affect the cable lengths, but I'd certainly like to know if there is a trick we are missing removing these doors with the short gap between racks. Thanks.

I found an older install document that gives a little more insight. Seems like you explained it well, but I didn't quite get the picture until I found this... I cannot fully test it because I'm not in that data center right now, but in principal, it should work.

Hello ahamilton,
The manual shows how to remove the doors before the enclosures are ganged. Once ganged the angle required to remove the door changes quite a bit. It's much shallower. To remove the doors once the enclosures are bayed please follow these directions:
1) Open the doors and unhook the ground wires, then shut the doors.
2) Begin to open one of the doors slowly and lift upwards while opening. The door should lift off of the hinges.
