I am a student who has been tasked with power management in the data centre in college. Its for learning purposes. However in order for me to remote access into pdus ...which are connected to switches. How do i get access to check power consumption , check for any updates and get these online??

Hi Linda,
Do they already have IP addresses you're not sure? These PDUs have an LCD display where you can check the current IP address to browse to them through your web browser or through SSH/Telnet. DHCP is enabled by default but manual/static IP configuration is an option too.
You'd want to get an IP address assigned then use that to browse to web interface or use SSH or Telnet client (telnet enabled by default) to access the interfaces and browse for the info you want. Default credentials are apc/apc but many folks change these. I am not clear if these PDUs are already set up and installed in the data center.
If you need to figure out how to assign an IP address to the devices, you can review this article and review NMC2 TCP/IP configuration options and methods: http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156064
Here is the product page for that PDU, there are user's guides, and some other resources there as well: https://www.apc.com/shop/ie/en/products/Rack-PDU-2G-Switched-ZeroU-32A-230V-21-C13-3-C19/P-AP8953?is...
Hope this helps! Once you log in via web, you can browse the different web pages. If you do Telnet or SSH, you can type ? after you log in and see all of the available commands (which user guide might be helpful for to see what they do).
