OPC UA for ePAC

@shanebo (Is that Shane Ayerst?)

When will the OPCUA software be released?

When is the M580 in-rack server module due for release?

Re: OPC UA for ePAC

Not sure about the in-rack module, but if it is just OPC UA server you are seeking, that runs on top of OFS, which runs over PAC, OFS already has a UA wrapper we can install and use. The below is extracted from some knowledge base and is centered around OFS 3.60.3112.0 .

Re: OPC UA for ePAC

It sounds more like the OP is after OPCUA in the rack, rather than requiring an additional computer outside of the PLC.

Several other vendors have started to offer OPCUA as protocols within their PLCs.

It would be great if Schneider did this on the M580 (maybe even the M340 series), since it starts to allow simple peer-to-peer communications with other vendors PLCs.

Imagine being able to easily connect an M580 PLC up to a Siemens S7-1500, and a Rockwell ControlLogix, all being able to reference tags in the other processors by name rather than some arbitrary index value... it would be a good time.

Re: OPC UA for ePAC

Hello Trinx,

A high performance in-rack module 'BMENUA0100 OPC UA Module' for M580 ePAC is due for commercialization Dec 19th. An external, software based solution 'EcoStruxure OPC UA Server Expert' for Modicon PACs and Modbus devices is commercialized and available now.
