The License Server is a Windows Service which provides client-side licensing to clients connecting to Geo SCADA with the client licensing option enabled.
Geo SCADA Clients can connect using two different license types:
When clients attempt to connect to Geo SCADA they will check the 'Use Client License' checkbox in the connections tool. If that box is checked the client checks first the local Geo SCADA Licence Server service for Client Licensing. The client is either granted a client license or refused. If they are granted a license, they connect to the Geo SCADA server and are able to access the system.
However, if they are refused, the client connection still proceeds to the server but will only be given a license from the server pool if the server has an available client license.
The license server provides a log file which can be used to view the allocation and de-allocation of client licenses when they happen.
Client side licensing is configured in the Geo SCADA Configure Connections applet. Statistics for licenses currently in-use are also available in the applet.
