Hi All,

Is it possible to do a DCE Restore for a DCE VM v7.9.0?

I am only finding the procedure of restoring the Physical DCE Server.

Thank you in advance for any response.

Hello @Tafadzwa,

Backing up and restoring a Virtual Appliance is a little different than a physical appliance.  The key difference is that you would need to deploy to redeploy OVA instead of using a USB ISO restore key.  Once deployed, resources assigned, and then booted up, you can restore the backup the same way that you would for a physical appliance.

Here are the rough steps that you would take for either a Physical or Virtual:

Physical Appliance:

  1. Make a backup of the appliance.
  2. Download the Restore ISO and build a USB Restore Key(same version the backup was created on, unless otherwise indicated in upgrade instructions).  If you do not have the necessary Restore ISO, either access via the EcoStruxure IT Entitlements Portal or contact technical support.
  3. Restore the server to defaults using the ISO.
  4. Reconfigure the network settings and server access settings via keyboard/mouse.
  5. Restore a backup to the server.

Virtual Appliance:

  1. Make a backup of the appliance.
  2. Download the OVA file, deploy, and adjust resources as needed.
  3. Reconfigure the network settings and server access settings via the virtual console.
  4. Restore a backup to the server.

NOTE:  If the MAC address changes during this process between the new system and old system, you will need to contact technical support for license key correction.

Resources for each of these steps can be found in either our Help Center or in our FAQs:
