possible to use apc powerchute to monitor UPS's connected via network?
Hi all,
I was asked today to find out whether it was possible to monitor multiple Smart-UPS units connected to the network via 1 powerchute business edition installation. This means that the UPS are not direct attached to the server.
Also if this is possible could you also please outline the steps required for this to work.

This is not possible, as PCBE requires the actual "computer" to act as the agent, which then communicates with the PCBE "Server" that you have installed. PCBE requires a direct UPS-to-computer connection. PowerChute Network Shutdown does not, and allows for shutdown or other functionality all based on TCP/IP. PCNS does require network management cards in the UPS', however.
