UPS: The external DC disconnect switch is open

This was originally posted on APC forums on 12/15/2009

Can anyone tell me what this means really quick? I got the alert emailed out this past weekend and I thought this was a physical switch, but nobody was in the building.

The "no longer open" alert came in about 1 minute later so nothing was harmed, but I can't find any info on the specific alert.

Thanks in advance

Yes, this is a physical DC battery breaker. You can try cycling the breaker to make sure it's back in a solid "ON" position, and verify via the switches/breakers in your PowerView display. Potential faults could be a faulty contact or external switchgear card. If you continue to experience the fault or need more clarification it would be best to call into our three-phase support/Symmetra PX support team at 1-800-800-4272.
