Strange brownout issue only with some servers

This was originally posted on APC forums on 7/11/2012

Currently have two 5000 units each in differnt racks. We just suffered a very brief brown out and I had 3 of my servers reboot when the APC unit switched over to battery for less than a second. Each server is conencted to a power strip and then plugged into the APC unit. There are also 3 addtional servers plugged into the power strip as well and into the same APC unit. The other rack did not have the same issue. The powerchuite log of each server never said shut down in prgress and there was no clean shut down anyway.I triple cheked the server power cords (2 per server /PS) even had someone else check to make sure that they are conencted to the Power strip then the APC unit. Was it just bad luck and high sensitivity? we have had power outages before and never had this problem???

do you have the specific model numbers of UPS and PDU available (if an APC PDU?) do you have any log files from either the UPS or the PDU to review during this timeframe? i know you mentioned the powerchute log but it might be helpful for us here to reference. is this powerchute network shutdown or powerchute business edition you refer to?

model number:SUA5000RMT5U. I don't think its the PDU since otehr servers are using the same PDU and they didn't go down. Using Powerchute Network shutdown.
The only thing I have in the log is the following anmd the date i'm referring to is 7/10/2012. as you can see, nothing really happened other than this client going down.

07/10/2012 14:20:36 Communication has been established
07/10/2012 14:20:29 PowerChute Network Shutdown version 2.2.4 started
06/28/2012 18:39:28 Communication has been established
06/28/2012 18:38:44 PowerChute Network Shutdown version 2.2.4 started

This is from the APC unit

07/10/2012 14:22:41
UPS: No longer on battery power.

07/10/2012
14:22:39
UPS: On battery power in response to an input power problem.

07/10/2012
14:22:36
UPS: No longer on battery power.

07/10/2012
14:22:34
UPS: On battery power in response to an input power problem.
