Smart up 750 periodically ticks, ticks, ticks

Hi there
We have a Smart Up 750 that has been periodically ticking for a bit than goes back to silence over the last few days. What is causing this and how do you fix it?

Thank-you!
Ruth

There are no noticeable power event that happen when it occurs. However we did have a power outage over the weekend, and it has been happening on and off since then.
The LED lights in the front flash in Synchrony with the ticks. I think all of them. I will look next time it happens.

ok-- the LED lights flashing are:
the large oval Green light on the middle of the row of 3 lights on the 2nd row of lights from the left
the large oval Orange light in middle of the row of the 3 lights on the 2nd right of lights on the right row

and:
The 5 small green lights on the far right row stay solid
The Orange light in the bottom on th row of 3 lights on the 2 left row disappears.

Hope this makes sense- if not, please let me know.

the model is 750
T3A031

the serial number is AP88548612

I am not sure what you mean by a serial cable, but there is a cable that runs from the unit to a switch and a power cable and another thick black cord that I can't really tell where it goes.

sorry - the serial number must be at the back and it is in a cage and I can't open the back, jsut the front, because it it is wedged between a desk and walls.
There is no cable like that coming from the unit, however there are 2 power cords and one of them is plugged into a plug that looks like it may go down to our server which is in another room.

You are right. I ended up using a power bar. It still ticked periodically, but less and less and it has ticked yet today, is it possible that it was having a more and more difficult time running from battery, so ticked more often, than took a bit to recover? Is there a way to check the batteries power level?

Hi again
I switched power cords last night and it did not tick when unplugged. It is ticking less periodically now, it has not ticked since 08:00 this morning and yesterday it only ticked for around 4 sessions.
There is a network cable from the SmartUps connected to the old power bar still and it has a orange and green light lit up on the power bar and on the back of the SmartUps.

Sorry, I switched the power bar on Friday, and don't recall if it ticked when unplugged. I have to switch to another power bar tonight after everyone leaves for the day, I will see if it ticks then. All of the lights on the right are green so that must be a good sign.

I mean the power strip or board that the unit plugs into, then it is plugged into the wall.

The online LED and the Smartboost voltage increase LED flashed at the same time.

It is hooked up to a server. I don’t know what software.

Yes, you are correct about the flashing lights, sorry. I got them mixed up in the last response.

Since I have changed to a good power bar, it has not ticked. Knock on wood.
I don’t want to unplug it now to plug in the wall as it effects the internet connection for the entire office.

I will see if I can find the APC PowerChute software. I have never have done this kind of thing before so…

sorry so long. I don't have access to the server and our tech support says that there is nothing there to indicate any problems. It stopped ticking for a while but is starting to tick more and more again.
Please advise.
