Smart UPS 2200XL - failing as soon as mains removed - exceeded load warning

Hi,

We have a 2200XL which under normal conditions is showing a load of approx 33%. however as soon as incoming power is removed, or a runtime calibration is started the output fails after approximately 5 secs and the following log is posted:

25.04.2016 18:01:24 UPS: The output power is now turned on.

25.04.2016

18:01:24 UPS: The load no longer exceeds 100% of rated capacity.
25.04.2016 18:00:54 UPS: The load exceeds 100% of rated capacity.
25.04.2016 18:00:53 UPS: The output power is turned off due to an overload.
25.04.2016 18:00:49 UPS: Started a self-test.

Batteries are 1 month old.

Any thoughts would be helpful

Mark

Mark,

That voltage should be fine. it is possible the battery is charged properly but cannot hold the charge once the load is applied which seems to be your experience. You should test the UPS with a similar load but not the computers. Get the load up to 30 - 35% and switch the UPS to battery. If the battery charge drops as seen with the run-time calibration the batteries should be replaced.

Hi,

Sounds like bad batteries. What is the exact mode number of the Smart-UPS. You will find the information on the bar code sticker on the back of the unit.

Hi,

What is the voltage the batteries are showing in the network card? That unit uses the RBC55 which is quantity 4 12v batteries. Each good battery should be in the range of 13v - 13.5v DC and the battery pack should read 52v to 54v DC if good.
