No connection after changing NMC IP Address

All,

I've got a brand new APC Smart UPS X-750 with a brand new AP9630 NMC installed.

I was able to find the device with the Device IP Configuration Utility.

I was able to log into the device and give it the IP address I wanted it to have.

After that, I was unable to find the device on the network.

I've reset the NMC trying to get it to connect via DHCP again with no luck.

I'm not sure what happened but I've got to connect to the device again and I'm not sure how to force it to grab an IP from the DHCP server again.

Any help would be...well...helpful!

Thanks

-JM

Hi Jeff,

How exactly did you "reset" the NMC? Please confirm the steps.

Also, confirm the LED color and flashing pattern (or if it is solid) for the status LED (the one with the checkmark and X next to it. This will tell us what the NMC's current status is.

Since the NMC is brand new, the easiest way to start fresh and what I'd try is to "format." This involves holding down the pinhole reset button on the AP9630 for 20+ seconds. During this time, that status LED I mentioned should "pulse" or "flicker" green and change to orange when it is time for you to let go. You'll need a paperclip or something similar and have to pay attention to the alignment of the paperclip to make good contact with the button. If you're not seeing the specific LED pattern I mentioned during the process, then you may not have good contact with the reset button. I am not sure if this is an option depending on where your unit is physically located or mounted right now.

Alternatively, you can see if you can use the serial connection. This UPS also allows you to set the information on the AP9630 right from its LCD menu I believe. The UPS LCD menu may need to be set to "Advanced" to do this which you can change under the Configuration menu. If you want to use DHCP and won't be assigning a manual address eventually, I think the LCD menu can at least tell you if the NMC is still set to DHCP mode.

Before moving forward too, feel free to just give me back that info I asked for and I can make a recommendation on the easiest steps forward.

Hi Jeff,

Sorry for the inconvenience, but how did you reset the card?

also if you want to assign a static IP address on the card, you can check the link below

Thank you, Angela. I was pressing the rest button down, but evidently I wasn't holding it in long enough.

I'm back up and running again.

Have a great day.

-Jeff
